Biographical history
John Guzzwell is a noted small boat sailor originally from England who immigrated to Canada at the age 25 and built the yacht Trekka in Victoria in the early 1950s. He then sailed her around the world single-handed. When he returned to Victoria in 1959 his was the smallest sailing yacht to have completed a circumnavigation. John Guzzwell then went on to have a successful career as a boatbuilder.
Custodial history
These records are from previous owners, as well as the MMBC itself, since the time the S/V Trekka was transferred to Museum ownership.

S/V Trekka is one of the three vessels in the MMBC collection. You can find out more about her here: http://mmbc.bc.ca/trekka/
Collection contains a mix of books, textual documents, photographs, newspaper clippings, and one film reel. Records include plans and specifications of Trekka, correspondence, inventory lists, biographical information on Trekka's owners, log books, work books, registration certificates, receipts, tonnage certificates, bill of sale, and a 1959 Panama Canal tonnage certificate.
